Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release. Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid. The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated. Police then located multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity. These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols. Police state early analysis indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid. "There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they commented. Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for information. An important representative said the attack left him stunned and had to be resolved quickly. "This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
